A Simple Drill for the Safety X

Once you’ve practiced the Safety X, try this very simple drill that creates an active Safety X. This drill focuses on a very small movement of raising the Safety X (not a lot, just a bit) whenever you step.

The drill starts in a Middle N stance.

Step 1: Front foot extended step forward, raise your safety X and then return, bringing the foot back to its starting place and the Safety X to it’s “home”.

Step 2: Front foot does an extended step to the side (raising the Safety X), return.,

Step 3: Back foot performs an extended step to the rear while raising your X. Return.

Practice this with both feet forward. Want to do it with me? You can follow along with the video below. (And look for our puppy, Rosie, stealing the scene at the end!)
