The bones forming your elbow create one of the strongest weapons you can use for either offense or defense. When used as a block, it effectively stop an oncoming attack and it may do significant damage as well.
Our blocking drill has three different elbow blocks. The second elbow block covers the side of the head, with the bent arm tightly in contact with your cheek, temple, and the side of the skull. My partner Jim also likes to use this in an aggressive manner – bringing the elbow up to protect the side of the face can do a double duty of striking something close in front of you.
