Ashtanga Yoga

Weekly classes  at the Riversbend home studio (6031 Deborah Drive, Warrenton, Virginia, 20187). For the duration of the Pandemic, Ashtanga classes will be offered in an on-line format only.

Ashtanga Yoga was developed by Sri Pattabi Jois in Mysore, India.  The Ashtanga Primary Series is also called Yoga Chikitsa, or Yoga Therapy, designed to promote healing and purification of the body.  The primary series is the same where-ever Ashtanga is practiced, and once you learn it, you can practice in harmony with other Ashtangis world-wide.  In the traditional form of Ashtanga, Mysore Ashtanga, practitioners perform the sequence at their own pace with the assistance of a teacher who understands the student's pace and areas of work.  Led classes are also available in many places where the teacher calls out the individual poses to synchronize the entire group.

The Riversbend Studio is now offering an Ashtanga Half-primary series led class.  The half-primary class includes a selection of the poses from the full series, and is designed to fit into a 75 minute format.  This is a rigorous workout and will challenge your stamina and flexibility.

Classes are $10 per session (drop-in) or $30/month pre-paid.   To pay for an individual class, send $10 via Paypal to at least 45 minutes before the start of class. You can also contact Debby to arrange for the monthly billing.

See calendar for the class schedule.
